James Arnold, DDS

Dr. Arnold grew up in Porter County and attended Valparaiso High School. After graduating near the top of his class with a 4.1 GPA and All-State and All-American distinction in track and cross-country, Dr. Arnold went to Indiana University. He completed his bachelor of science degree in biology and minored in Spanish, all the while competing on Indiana’s track and cross-country teams.

Dr. Arnold attended Indiana University School of Dentistry in Indianapolis, where he was elected class president four years in a row and represented his school at several national meetings. In addition to excellent grades, Dr. Arnold received the ASDA Award of Excellence and the IDA Award for Leadership.

He has completed advanced training at the following nationally recognized institutions:

Dr. Arnold is an active member of numerous local, national, and international dental groups, including the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, Crown Council, Academy of General Dentistry, American Dental Association, Pierre Fauchard Academy (fellow), and Academy of Comprehensive Esthetics.

A respected lecturer, Dr. Arnold traveled to India twice to teach advanced dental techniques. He receives invitations to lecture and teach in other countries, as well. Locally, Dr. Arnold has served as an officer for the Porter County Dental Society and on the Northwest Indiana Dental Society Board of Directors since 1999. He was Chairman of Northwest Indiana’s Dental Peer Review Committee for three years and has served on Northwest Indiana Dental Foundation’s board since 2005. Dr. Arnold has participated on several committees for the Indiana Dental Association, including the state’s Strategic Planning Committee and the Council on New Dentists. Additional volunteer efforts include Hilltop Neighborhood House, a free dental clinic for low-income families.

In 2003, Dr. Arnold received the honor of Fellow in the Academy of Comprehensive Esthetics (F.A.C.E.). He passed a rigorous written examination; submitted several cases showcasing his skills in treatment planning, cosmetic dentistry, and full-mouth rehabilitation; and successfully presented a challenging case to the board to obtain this distinction. In 2006, Dr. Gibson received an invitation to serve on the Advisory Board of the Academy of Comprehensive Esthetics (ACE). He also served as co-chairman of the Fellowship Committee for two years.

Dr. Arnold was selected in 2004 as a medical expert in the field of cosmetic dentistry for Medical News Now, Inc (MDTV). He was honored to be interviewed for a thirty-minute television program on cosmetic dentistry produced in New York City. That same year, Dr. Arnold began serving as a clinical mentor for the prestigious Hornbrook Group, an organization that teaches dentists from around the world to perform world-class cosmetic dentistry. This honor is bestowed upon a select few dentists.

Dr. Arnold and his wife, Sarah, married in 1998. They have two beautiful daughters, Julia and Sophia, and two wonderful sons, Ethan and Matthew. Dr. Arnold enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, reading, and participating in all types of sports, especially triathlons with his wife. Dr. Arnold is a member of Mensa.
